Enrolling a Mac Without Using Open Enrollment

Requirements

Ensure the Mac has Find My disabled or is signed out of iCloud.

Note:

  • Enrollment will fail when a Mac has an existing non-removable Automated Device Enrollment profile already installed.

  • Macs running macOS version 11.0 or later are automatically supervised.

  1. On the device you wish to enroll, log in to Jamf Now.
  2. Click Devices.
  3. Click Enroll This Device.
  4. Fill out the information in the Enroll This Device pop-up window.
  5. Enter a name, select a blueprint, and an email address (if asked).
  6. When complete, click Download Configuration Profile to continue.
  7. After the configuration profile is downloaded:

    • On macOS 12 or earlier, open "System Preferences" and navigate to Profiles.

    • On macOS 13–14.x, navigate to System Settings > Privacy & Security, and then scroll down until you find Profiles.

    • On macOS 15 or later, navigate to System Settings > General, and then scroll down until you find Device Management.

  8. To install the Jamf Now Profile:

    • On macOS 12 or earlier, find the Jamf Now Profile and click Install.

    • On macOS 13 or later, find the Jamf Now Profile and double-click on it. Then, click Install.

  9. Click Continue to proceed with the install process.
  10. Click Continue to verify you want to enroll the device.
  11. Click Install and then enter the administrator username and password for the Mac.

    Your Jamf Now profile is now installed. Enable Find My or sign in to iCloud on the computer after enrollment to share its Activation Lock bypass code with Jamf Now.
