Requirements
  • Ensure the Mac has Find My disabled or is signed out of iCloud.

  • The Open Enrollment period must be active to Open Enroll a device in to Jamf Now.

For more information on enabling Open Enrollment, see Setting Up Open Enrollment.

Note:
  • Open Enrollment will fail when a Mac has an existing non-removable Automated Device Enrollment profile already installed.

If the computer's serial number displays in Jamf Now under Auto-Enrollment > View Devices, use the workflow found in Re-enrolling a Computer Using Automated Device Enrollment.

  • If a computer was previous enrolled with Automated Device Enrollment, you must remove the device record from Jamf Now before using Open Enrollment.

  • Macs running macOS version 11.0 or later are automatically supervised.

  1. On the Mac you want to enroll, open Safari and enter your Jamf Now Open Enrollment URL (for example, https://go.jamfnow.com/xyz).

    Important:

The user must enroll a Mac while logged in to the primary user's account. Network user accounts are not supported at this time.

  2. Enter the access code you or your administrator created, select a blueprint, and enter the name and email address (if required).
    Note:

If you do not know your access code, contact your administrator.

  3. Click Download Configuration Profile.
  4. After the configuration profile is downloaded:
    • On a computer with macOS 12 or earlier, navigate to System Preferences > Profiles.

    • On a computer with macOS 13–14.x, navigate to System Settings > Privacy & Security, and then scroll down until you find Profiles.

    • On a computer with macOS 15 or later, navigate to System Settings > General, and then scroll down until you find Device Management.

  5. Click Install on the Jamf Now Profile.
  6. You will now be asked to continue with enrollment. Click Continue.
  7. Confirm you want to install the Jamf Now profile by clicking Install.
  8. Enter the credentials as prompted and click Enroll.

The profile should now be installed on your Mac. If you have any questions or issues, contact Jamf Now Support at support@jamfnow.com.

Enable Find My or sign in to iCloud on the computer after enrollment to share its Activation Lock bypass code with Jamf Now.

Important:

If you enabled FileVault prior to enrollment and you want to store FileVault keys in Jamf Now, you must escrow a new FileVault recovery key. For more information, see Generating a New FileVault Key for Escrowing with Jamf Now.
