Once a year, you need to renew your Apple Push Notification service (APNs) certificate with Apple. In order to renew your APNs certificate, you must use the same Apple Account that was initially used to create the certificate.
Apple will email you reminders starting 30 days before expiration using the email address associated with the Apple Account you used to create the APNs certificate.
Jamf Now displays the Apple Account entered by the user who last connected or renewed the APNs certificate in Jamf Now. This can be referenced and utilized as long as the correct Apple Account was entered on last renewal.
Alternatively, you can match the common name displayed in Jamf Now with the details in the Apple Push Certificates Portal.
- Find the "Common name (CN)" in your current APNs certificate information. It begins with "APSP" and is followed by a string of letters and digits.
- Find the "Subject DN" for this certificate, which includes its unique APSP name.
Once you locate the string that matches the common name in your Jamf Now account, you have located the correct certificate to renew.
If you are unable to locate the matching APNs certificate in the Apple Push Certificates Portal, try logging in with any Apple Account that could have been used to create the original APNs certificate. Typically the Apple Account used to create the original APNs certificate is owned or managed by the individual who first set up Jamf Now for your organization.
If the Apple Account cannot be located or accessed, contact Apple support to migrate your certificate to a different Apple Account.Apple recommends using a Managed Apple Account created in Apple Business or Apple School Manager that multiple individuals in your organization can access.
