Requirements
  • The app is added to the Apps tab in Jamf Now

  • Devices are unlocked

  • (Wi-Fi only devices) Devices are connected to a network that does not prevent app installation from Apple

  • (Cellular devices) Devices are connected to Wi-Fi if the app is 200 MB or larger

    Note:

If your devices have unlimited cellular data, you can configure them to install all apps using cellular data. To enable this on the device, navigate to Settings > App Store > App Downloads and choose Always Allow. A weak cellular connection may still prevent installing apps.

  1. Log in to Jamf Now.
  2. Click Devices.
  3. Select the device for which you would like to deploy an app.
  4. Click the iPad & iPhone Apps, Mac Apps, or Apple TV Apps tab.

You will now see a list of the apps deployed from the blueprint your device is under, and also Additional Apps.

  5. Navigate to the Additional Apps section.
  6. Click Add an App.
  7. Select the app you want to add to the device.
  8. Click Add App.
Once the installation is initiated, Jamf Now will immediately send a command to the device to start downloading the app. If the device is asleep or not connected to Wi-Fi, Jamf Now will try again every 15 minutes.

If an app fails to install, see App Installation Statuses. If an installation failure persists, reach out to Jamf Now Support at support@jamfnow.com.

Note:

If a device was enrolled with Open Enrollment, a prompt displays requiring the user to approve the installation when Jamf Now deploys an app for the first time. This prompt only appears during the initial installation and not during subsequent updates.
