Installing… Waiting for device to check in, and the Last Check In time for the device fails to update, Jamf recommends ensuring you have the original Apple Push Notification service certificate uploaded to Jamf Now, and allow for network communication with the required Apples hosts and services. For more information on the APNs certificate, see Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) Certificate Mismatch. For more information on network communication, see Use Apple products on enterprise networks from the Apple Support website. - Installing on Device
- The device has received and processed the app installation command sent by Jamf Now. The device then initiates the app download and installation process using its active Wi-Fi or cellular connection. This status will display until the device reports back to Jamf Now during inventory that the app has been successfully installed.Note:
If the app is larger than 200 MB, and the device has a cellular plan, Jamf recommends connecting the device to Wi-Fi. Alternatively, the end user can change device settings by navigating to , and then selecting Always Allow.
If needed, you can resend the app installation or app update command to the device using the Reinstall on Device command. This will generate a fresh Install Application command and revert the status to
Installing... waiting for device to check in. - Installed, Admin-managed
- The app is installed or updated on the device and is managed by Jamf Now. This status will continue until the app is removed, converted to user-managed, or a new app version is recognized and pushed to the device.
- Sent to Device
- The Mac has successfully received the command to install the custom .pkg.Note:
Jamf Now cannot confirm nor deny whether the package contents installed successfully.
- Not Installed
- The app is not installed on the device and Jamf Now is not actively attempting to install it. Typically, this happens when an app is not assigned to the Apps tab of the blueprint but is included in your app library.
- Installed, User-managed
- The app is installed on the device, but the app is not managed by Jamf Now. This applies to apps installed by the end user from the App Store, Mac packages, and Mac apps installed on computers with macOS 10.15.x or earlier. Some apps can be converted to admin-managed. To convert the app, navigate to the app, click the Action pop-up menu (•••) and select Convert to Admin-managed.
- Installation Failed. Volume purchasing server token is revoked.
- Volume purchasing content tokens (formerly server tokens) may be revoked by Apple when the password is changed for the Apple Account used to log in to Apple Business or Apple School Manager. Jamf recommends renewing your volume purchasing content token to reestablish volume purchasing communication with Apple Business or Apple School Manager. For more information, see Renewing Your Volume Purchasing Content Token with Apple Business.
- Installation Failed. Will retry in 24 hours.
- The app installation or update failed. This installation status will include details on the cause of the failure when possible, such as "This app requires a volume purchasing license for deployment". Jamf Now will continue to send the command to install the app until the device accepts the installation. Devices should process pending app installation commands when powered on, unlocked, at the Home Screen for a few minutes, and connected to an unfiltered internet network that allows large apps.
If an app installation failure status persists, Jamf recommends you remove the app from the device. This will cause the app to stop attempting to install and to return a "Not Installed" status. You can then retry app installation.
- Removing... Waiting for device to check in.
- Jamf Now sent the command to remove the app from the device. The app will be removed the next time the device syncs with Jamf Now and is available to process the command.Note:
Apps must be volume purchased, or custom iPad or iPhone apps to remove them with Jamf Now.
