Effective communication ensures a timely migration and ensures that your end users understand the migration process. Here are a few ideas on how you can communicate with users about the migration:
- Use a range of different communication methods and channels to reach your users.
- Ensure you plan several different stages of communications to go out before, during, and after the migration.
- Engage and involve internal stakeholders of the migration project, such as management and marketing teams.
- Incentivize users to complete the migration workflow early and at a time that is convenient.
- Build a compelling narrative that explains how this migration will benefit the end user experience on macOS.

To help keep your Mac secure and empower your work, we will soon be moving to a new device management system called Jamf. To do this, we need your help. When the time comes we will be deploying an application called Jamf Migrate to help us move your computer to our new Jamf management system. It’s really easy and only takes about 5 minutes to complete.
We will be sharing further information with you in the near future about how you can help us to make this migration as smooth and painless as possible, so watch this space!

Thank you for being patient whilst we got ready to migrate your computer to Jamf. Today’s the day!
Review the instructions below and complete the migration at your earliest convenience. It’s really easy and only takes about 5 minutes to complete.
- Save anything you are working on and close all apps.
- Open Self Service.
- Locate the Jamf Migrate policy.
- Click Run.
- Jamf Migrate will launch and complete the first step, “Preparing migration”.
- Jamf Migrate will present you with the option to start now or defer. Select Start Now from the dropdown and click OK.
- After a few moments, Jamf Migrate will show you some instructions; read these carefully and take the actions requested.
- All being well, Jamf Migrate will complete the Installing New MDM profile step.
- You will then be asked to enter your password to renew your FileVault recovery key.
- Finally, Jamf Migrate will finish up and when complete it will display a “Congratulations” message.
- You’re all done! Have a well deserved cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the rest of your day.
