FusionID is an identity data management layer that sits between an organization's source systems and its identity and access management (IAM) tools. It consolidates identity data from multiple systems into a single authoritative record for each person, without replacing the IAM tools already in place.
By ingesting data from source systems, cleaning and normalizing it, and matching and merging records that belong to the same person, FusionID gives administrators one accurate identity for each individual, with every role and affiliation represented. It then applies policy-based governance rules to determine which source is authoritative for each field and synchronizes the resulting identity data to downstream systems.
FusionID comprises these four components:
- Sources
- The records that FusionID ingests from each connected system, such as a student information system, an HR system, or a learning management system
- Identities
- The authoritative records that FusionID builds by matching and merging sources
- DataHub
- The data pipeline that imports raw source data, transforms it through configurable field mappings, and validates it before it becomes a source record
- Identity sync
- The process that delivers identity data to external IAM systems and other downstream endpoints
