You can build a custom blueprint by selecting any number of available options from a component library. Components are organized into component blocks, and each block can have its own activation conditions. After you select the scope for your blueprint, you can add and configure the components, component blocks, and activation conditions. Then you can deploy the blueprint to computers and mobile devices in smart groups or static groups.

Important:

In a single blueprint, adding legacy payloads of the same type to separate component blocks can cause a profile installation conflict. When you add or edit a component block on a blueprint that is already deployed, the payload identifier from one block can overwrite the identifier of another block that uses the same payload type. The affected device then reports an installation error similar to the following: " Failed to install profile: The profile "identifier" cannot replace an existing profile".

To avoid this conflict, configure legacy payloads of the same type in separate blueprints, or use activation conditions so that blocks containing the same payload type do not activate on the same device.

  1. Click Blueprints in the sidebar.
  2. Click Create blueprint in the upper-right corner.
  3. Replace the variable Untitled blueprint with a name for the blueprint.
  4. Replace the variable Describe what this blueprint is used for. with a description of the blueprint.
  5. (Optional) Enter the name of a component in the Search field or use the Components library pop-up menu to filter the types of available components.
  6. Drag and drop any of the available components in the Components library on the left to the component block on the right.
  7. Click on the component to configure the settings.
  8. (Optional) Click +Add component block to create additional component blocks.
  9. (Optional) Configure an activation condition for each component block you create. For more information, see Scope and Activation Conditions in Blueprints.
  10. Click the Scope card to configure the scope.
  11. After configuring the component, click Save.
  12. Select the checkbox next to the groups you want to scope the blueprint to. You can filter device groups based on group type (smart or static) or platform type (computers or devices), or by entering a group name in the Search field.
    Note:

    If devices are added to a group after a blueprint has been deployed, the new devices will automatically receive the blueprint the next time they check in.

  13. Click Save.
  14. Click Deploy to deploy the blueprint to the configured device groups.

The changes applied by the blueprint are deployed to devices in scope.

You can view the blueprint on target devices by navigating to:

  • (Computers) System Settings > General > Device Management. Double-click MDM profile, and then scroll to Configurations.

  • (Mobile devices) Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > MDM Profile > Configurations.

You can remove declarations from all devices assigned to a deployed blueprint's scope by deselecting all the checkboxes next to the device groups under Scope, clicking Save and then clicking Undeploy. The blueprint will be removed from all device groups.
Note:

The Deploy button only changes to Undeploy when all device groups are deselected. If any device groups remain selected, the button continues to display as Deploy.
